The System Safety Engineer is responsible for being the safety subject matter expert for various military and avionics systems, and innovative technological solutions. Some key roles the Systems Safety Engineer will play include: reviewing the engineering team’s output with a critical eye toward safety impacts, be a point of contact for customer Safety Engineer’s communications, and provide support to the Lead Systems Engineer with requirements management and verification.
  • Primary responsibility will be as the Safety Engineer for avionics and other embedded product lines.
  • Secondary responsibility will be as an Avionics Systems Engineer.
  • Responsible for performing safety analyses, including PSSA/SSA, FHA, FMECA, FTA, etc. and use these analyses to influence the architectures and designs of the systems under consideration.
  • Review the engineering team's outputs (e.g. requirements, procedures, ECOs, etc.) with a critical eye toward safety impacts
  • Become the company’s focal for safety-critical designs
  • Provide support to the lead Systems Engineer with requirements management and verification

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or other related engineering field required. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of recent experience in safety-critical design in a field such as space, nuclear , Class 3 medical device design or commercial aviation (Highly Desired)
  • Experience with DO-178 and DO-254 is a plus; successful FAA STC or TSO certification (preferred)
  • Experience with ARP4761 or ARP4754 Safety Assessments for hardware or software (preferred)
  • Experience with ITEM Software (preferred)
  • Efficiently multi-task and commit to working under deadlines
